Why Ride?

Riding Has Benefits!

Did you know that there are benefits to riding a motorcycle? We’re always told by our parents and other people that riding a motorcycle is nothing but dangerous and doesn't do anything for you. Well, that isn't entirely true as riding a motorcycle has been proven to have a lot of physical and mental benefits, that includes constantly being active. For example, you shift your body weight whenever you make a turn and or switch lanes, and by sitting up the whole length of your ride the rider also develops more core strength. Even when it comes to your speed you have to monitor it as all motorcycles are manual transmissions.

When it comes to mental benefits motorcycle provides the rider with mental stimulation such as the speed that motorcycles can reach in a short amount of time giving the rider excitement and is often used as a stress reliever and mental therapy. This is why a lot of riders tell nonriders that they would never understand the feeling you get from riding a motorcycle until you start riding yourself, which is the feeling of freedom and liberation being out in the open with the wind blowing on the rider. Motorcycle riding also raises a person's situational awareness as you have to assume a person is gonna pull out in front of you or not see you, as a rider you pretend like you’re invisible to other people and this type of mindset elevates your awareness substantially. There’s also a sense of community with motorcycle riding as other fellow riders do something called the biker wave which is 2 fingers pointed down on the ground which is supposed to represent 2 wheels on the ground and staying safe.

However, with these benefits, it’s crucial to acknowledge the major risks that come with motorcycle riding as riders are much more vulnerable to road hazards such as potholes, weather, rain, dirt, gravel, rider behavior, and other car drivers, which could result in more severe injury or fatal injury if proper riding habits and protective gear is not used all the time. Even with proper riding a person can still be involved in an accident and almost all the time it’s a car driver not paying attention to their surroundings. With the proper education, training and right mindset motorcycle riding can be a fun and eventful pastime if you acknowledge the risks and can exercise caution and situational awareness properly motorcycle riding is one of the most physically and mentally active types of personal transportation and I would personally recommend everyone at least try it once in their lifetime or become another fellow rider.
